Windows 8, Windows 7, Vista (32 bit or 64 bit)

For 32 bit or 64 bit versions of Microsoft Windows 8, Microsoft Windows 7 or Microsoft Vista the CD Driver disk is not required. The modem drivers provided by the operating system are sufficient for the installation of the fax modem.

  1. If using Windows 8, go to the Desktop Screen.
  2. Plug the Fax Modem directly into any USB slot.
  3. Windows should automatically recognize the fax modem as being inserted and begin searching for and installing device drivers.  After a few minutes Windows should display that the device driver has been installed.
  4. Plug one end of the phone cable into one of the two available jacks on the fax modem.
  5. Plug the other end of the phone cable into your telephone wall outlet.
If you are using high speed DSL Internet service (internet via telephone line) – you may require a DSL filter between the fax modem and your telephone wall outlet.  Check with your DSL internet provider if DSL filters are required.
We recommend installing the fax modem directly to the computers USB port. Installing the fax modem on a USB Hub may not allow for proper detection and operation of the fax modem. If the fax modem is not detected by Windows, try a different USB port.

Verify Installation of Fax Modem

  1. In the Search programs and files, type “Modem” and press Enter.
  2. A “Phone and Modem” dialog box should appear.
  3. Click the “Modems” tab.
  4. In the dialog box, your fax modem should appear in the list. Select the fax modem you just installed and click Properties.
  5. Click “Diagnostics” Tab.
  6. Click “Query Modem” button.
  7. You should see a series of response codes from the modem.
